    Scribe Clinic

    The State 4-H Horse Advisory Committee is encouraging counties to identify a scribe for their 4-H and PAS Horse Shows to assist judges, this will allow the judge to focus solely on the exhibitor in the ring and eliminate instance of missing a maneuver.

    Duane Stutzman, certified judge and OSU Equine Program Specialist, will be teaching the Virtual Scribe Clinic to provide insight as to how the classes are scored in addition to training participants to scribe for their 4-H and PAS Horse Shows.

    Quality Assurance

    Why is Quality Assurance (QA) Training Required?

    Chapter 901-19-07 of the Ohio Administrative Code is a mandatory rule that requires all exhibitors to complete a quality assurance program prior to exhibiting terminal or partial terminal livestock in a junior livestock show. The program is conducted cooperatively by the Exhibition Sponsor, OSU Extension, Ohio Agricultural Education, or Agricultural Commodity Organizations.

    program year. We will include updates on current market outlook and decision-tool calculators that
    are available to evaluate your options. These programs are FREE of charge but due to limiting the
    number of participants at each event, registration is required. All programs listed can be register for

  5. Scioto County OSU Extension Office Closed

    Dec. 16, 2020

    Beginning Monday, December 21st the Scioto County Extension Office will be closed until January 15th, 2021 due to the continued increase in cases of COVID 19 in Ohio.  All employees will be working remotely and are still available to assist you.  You can reach us by calling (740) 354-7879 or by email.  Email addresses for all employees can be found in the "About" Section of this website.

  10. Summer Food Program

    The USDA Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) was established to fill the gap when children lose access to meals when schools are closed. Most often this occurs during summer vacation. However, during school closures related to the pandemic, meals are also being made available. You have the opportunity to supplement the food you have at home with meals and snacks for your children from local schools and community organizations.
